In 9th grade English, we read some playFaust, maybe? I don't remember. What I do remember are the Seven Deadly Sins. Those revolting, enticing characters got me obsessed. Ever since then, I've been trying to figure out which is my worst, which will be my downfall. It's a slippery fish, it keeps changing on me. I've never been able to pinpoint it exactly. Envy maybe? Or gluttony? Not quite avarice, but if you rephrase it, make it covetousness, then maybe. Lust? Probably not. Not anymore. Wrath? It's in my blood. Sloth? Uh-uh. At least I don't think so. Maybe that one's too hard to recognize in yourself. I remember getting in an argument with one of my girlfriends about which of us was more ruled by Sloth. As far as I'm concerned, she was the clear winner. But she was sure it was me. Vanity? Not in the sense of personal grooming, but if we're talking about the Pride Cometh Before the Fall variety, I've got this one in spades. And I haven't seen "Seven" and all its wisdom. But I've heard about it. And it sounds to me like that murderer fella just needed a better understanding of human nature and our susceptibility to sin. So I'm here to prevent life imitating art (I use the term loosely, of course). Maybe you have one sin that clearly dominates your life. I'm looking for Seven Deadly Sins Poster Children. Send me your shameful story and a picture and maybe you'll become a pinup for your Sin of Choice!
