Someone who I don't know very well but had respect for had a status line on FB about not having any sympathy for Amy Winehouse when there's such and such refugees and so on. I've been mulling over calling her out on it, but just now went to her page and that status is gone.

This might be stretching the definition of celebrity, but Kim Jong Il of North Korea is dead.

Good bye, Etta James [Frown] I got to see her in 2006 in Seattle. She came out on a red scoot-a-long because she could no longer stand for long periods, but there was nothing wrong with that voice. She'd get up every now and then, shake it a little during a song, and then back to the scooter. Fantastically filthy, naughty, bluesy, blowsy, brassy, TALENTED Lady. [Smile]

Ladies, it is with great sadness I post: Whitney Houston has died. Hers was a once-in-a-lifetime voice, that at its peak could bring tears to my eyes. While true she herself couldn't dance, her music almost always could get me to the dance floor.
I'm so sorry about your drugs, and demons, Miss Whit- I so hope you're in a better place. Peace. [Frown]

Jeez. Their poor daughter.

I've always gotten the impression that Whitney never EVER truly admitted to the world or far more importantly to herself that she was an addict. How was she ever going to get better without getting to that point? Sad.

Her voice was just incredible.

I remember her signing the National Anthem. It made me cry.

Sarah is right about the addiction I think. [Frown]

Me, too! I didn't think he'd kick before he was 100. Truly a Legend, that one. I saw Tears For Fears for the first time on American Bandstand.

Annnd goodbye, Original Barnabas Collins. I tried to watch a couple of episodes of Dark Shadows on Netflix, but it didn't really grab me. Well, the COSTUMES did- plus, late 60's hair dos, etc. But I do understand that w/out Dark Shadows, there would be no Buffy, and that w./out Johnathan Frid's Barnabas Collins, there'd be no Dark Shadows. So... Thank you, sir. RIP.
